COUNTERFEIT PARTS: THE IMPACT THEY HAVE ON YOU!

I am writing you to explain an alarming recent change that has taken place in the electronics marketplace. In recent years counterfeit electronic components have found their way into the marketplace. This never seen before phenomenon is having serious and far reaching consequences for manufacturers, distributors and end users.
Well established companies are being embarrassed because products they have built and delivered reliability in the past are suddenly failing in the field. The process they used is no longer reliable due to this criminal counterfeiting and false repackaging of high tech parts. This is a note to you that you must be aware of this recent development in the world wide supply of electronic components.
To combat this development, Laguna Components uses an external Escrow and diligently inspects all parts coming in from obsolete sources where we feel it is necessary for the security of the parts. We also perform limited testing in our attempt to make sure you receive quality working parts.
We will replace any part sold to you for a period of 60 days ARO. We require a test report from you informing us how the part has failed.
You must also be aware of the impact on pricing this counterfeiting is causing. Distributors are battling for orders which are often times placed by OEMs & CMs based on lowest price only. However, due to the increased need for quality assurance, reputation and supplier reliability are more important now than ever, and should be a major consideration when deciding a bid.
The heighten security needed to procure legitimate allocated and/or obsolete parts increases their price. The majority of contracts contain these allocated or obsolete parts.
We strive to ensure that the product you expect to receive from Laguna Components Inc. is
delivered on time and exceeds your high expectations. We have recently had to develop additional sophisticated quality assurance systems to counteract the proliferation of counterfeit parts in the market.
We encourage our customers to purchase products only from long term established companies, like Laguna Components Inc. We are proud of the strong relationships we have built over the last 28 years and have always provided excellent business and technical support for our customers.

Laguna Components Inc. makes no warranties, express or implied, on any counterfeit products. We realize that many of our customers buy counterfeit products unaware they are doing so. If you suspect that you have counterfeit parts, we suggest that you:
- TEST YOUR PARTS - We suggest that you test any product that is obsolete or suspect.
- Quarantine the products to avoid re-entry into the supply chain.
- Notify the manufacturer. They have proprietary methods of identifying their product.
- Ask Laguna Components Inc. to have parts tested.
